I’m late on this, sort of like everything else in my life at the moment, but for some reason Koopman’s brand of crazy is getting press again; this time for his self defined conservative litmus test.  I understand he fed the opinions of elected Montana Republicans into some sort of conservomatic-2000 and discovered that a lot of them didn’t agree with him.  Oh, the huge-manatee!  What really bugs me about this puppet show is that this sort of thing gets any press to begin with.  Sure, the “Montana Conservative Alliance” sounds just spiffy, but really, I don’t have reporters knocking down my door to publish the latest press release from the Montana Conservertarian Alliance of Friendly Misguided Cynics.  The article says that “at least 30″ ignored the survey…maybe the Beacon should have followed suit.

Post Post:  The Beacon included what they say is an email Koopman sent out that had a target list on it.  Here’s what got my dander up:

SHELBY/CONRAD/CHESTER/FORT BENTON: Llew Jones wages a personal war against Republican conservatives. His voting record is extremely liberal. Jones is now running for the Senate in SD 14. It is absolutely essential that we give the people of that district a conservative alternative in the Republican primary.

I’ve said it before and it bears repeating:  Llew Jones is the kind of legislator we want in Helena; a genuine, down to earth Golden Triangle Montanan.  Not a firebrand, not an ideologue, just a smart guy who’s trying to apply a little common sense to the Capitol circus.  We need more of that, not less.  Hang in there Llew, we’re not all nut-cases out here.
