Stimulating

Like most of the Montana blobosphere, I’ve been following with interest the frequent posts over at the Rotunda Report, the collaborative blog of Montana’s GOP legislators.  The comments aren’t exactly shooting the lights out, but I’m not really one to complain.  Anyway, today my former Representative, Llew Jones of Conrad, put up a short but important post regarding the inevitable have our kids and grandkids buy us stuff stimulus package that Mr. Obama will soon be passing down from the mount.  Mr. Jones:

If we are to stimulate our economy, we need to keep these funds targeted, not just create a big dog food dish that feeds government.

I’ve read that Mr. Obama “will not allow” Congress to load any stimulus bill with pork, but after perusing the list (PDF) James over at the 2nd Grade Bike Rack found, I don’t think we need to worry about our Congressbeings.  It looks to me like our Governors will be able to handle that job just fine.

“Sorry son, but we just had to have that Northern Plains Bio-Energy Research Center of Excellence [For Kids Who Can’t Read Good].”

We in Montana are fortunate to have folks like Mr. Jones keeping a sharp eye on the food dish, but on the other hand, I’m betting the drooling dogs in some other states won’t be on much of a leash at all.
