The first (that I noticed) was the Billings Gazette, and now there is the Daily InterLake and the Great Falls Tribune. It looks like all three newspapers have come out in opposition to the proposal to allow visitors of national parks to carry loaded guns. All three highlight that our national parks are extremely safe, that in the past poaching was a major problem, and that (from the Gazette)
The rule doesn’t infringe on individuals’ rights to own or possess guns.
I guess that’s reasonable and prudent and a very thoughtful analysis and all; but my problem is this: Why in hell is it the government’s anyone’s damn business where in my vehicle, on my person, or in my belongings I keep a piece of my own private property that is legal to own to begin with? Gah! I’m so tired of the snooping nose of government and it’s ever whining enablers.

There is the interesting idea that when government creates gun free zones, they assume a higher duty to protect the public from those who would shoot at you.

Good point, Steve. I’m surprised we haven’t heard of a class action of that sort. It goes too far against the grain, I suppose.
